If I'm Going on that Mini-Vacation

I mentioned last week, I may take a 3 day vacation the middle of week after next. I don't do much driving but my car has been making some strange noises of late, and so I've been hoping to get it into my favourite auto service station for a checkup and to make sure everything is in working order. I don't know why but they seem to be extra busy this week.

I tried to call them yesterday, and had to leave a message, but they did not call back, so I drove over there (just 7 blocks) but their parking area was full, so was the street parking close to their business. So I turned around again.

This morning I called again. Left a message for them to call me, but if they are backlogged with customers wanting attention to their vehicles...I may not get on today either.

I have promised to be at a Prayer meeting tomorrow morning, so I may try driving to their location after that.

I think my mini-vacation now depends on getting the car road- worthy.

Moose Jaw is a 3-hour drive away (one-way) I do NOT relish the idea of having car trouble along that length of highway.

How a Lily Dyed My Hair

I hope you were able to see the garden photos last week,or that you used the link to see the online version to enjoy the photos I had shared from my garden. (The RoseBouquet arrived as a plain text email for me, and had no photos. You can still see them at A Quick Garden Tour

Recently someone tried to jump over my neighbor's fence and landed or fell into my biggest patch of Kaiser Kronen Lilies. (Emperor's Crown lilies) Several were broken but I found a clump laid by my back fence so I replanted those, and brought in the broken stems/ trimmed them with a scissor and put the biggest one in a tall vase here on my desk. The other somewhat shorter ones are in an extra tall mug by the window.

The reason I tell you this, is to point out if I stand under this extra tall plant the brown stamens hanging down touch my hair and dye them an interesting golden colour. I didn't notice that until I was getting ready for bed in the bathroom and saw a golden glow to my hair on the upper left side.

Sorry; it didn't occur to me take a photo.

Brushing didn't take it out, but this morning's bath did!

So take notice, parts of a lovely lily can add some colour.

Also the round black beads that grow along the stem are seeds, and gathering them is tricky. If you get them on your clothes you pretty well have a permanent stain there. I now know that the brown stamens can colour your hair too.
