What is OBM?
I'd never seen it before, but I'm as curious as the proverbial cat, so when I spotted that under the name of one of those speakers for next week I decided to ask in the browser, "OBM stand for?"
Ah-ha! turns out that is Online Business Manager. But what does an Online Business Manager do?
I came to a website of the same woman shown as one who will be speaking next week. She trains women online over a 6 month period to become OBMs. They have a home business, where they collect some clients, who own businesses but they need someone to run the office for them. But with this OBM concept they don't have to go to the physical office. They can do all this from home, and Sarah (the owner of this training website) shows them how to find such clients, set up a contract and run their business from their home.
Now she may have some Virtual assistants (a lower class of OBMs) to whom she delegates some jobs, but because of how she is trained the OBM runs the office from her home, all by phone and her computer, and she can set her own hours & rates.
On that site I saw some testimonials, and some video interviews that Sarah did with graduates of her course, showed they never charge less than $100/hour! If the company owner asks her to do more than what they set up in their original contract, she simply says, "No."
If the business owner starts to ask why, etc. she's to say, "No, is a complete sentence."
One woman said she and their son had moved with her husband to Belgium, and she had wondered how she would ever find work there, in English, yet? But this course taught her to be in charge of several businesses in the USA, and makes $10,000+/week!
Wow! I can't see myself doing that, but there are possibilities out there that many of us have never heard of before!
I've heard of podcasts before and have watched a few of Gillian Perkin's, but I didn't realize how popular they are and so much more convenient for website owners.
They have an advantage over videos. If you watch a video you must keep your eyes on the screen. (Unless, I suppose you are listening to a music video...)
But last night I wanted to sample some of Gabe Coxes podcasts, and I found that I could get some hand work done because I wasn't watching the screen and my hands need busy work.
Ah, and there on the other desk were several containers of seeds from last year's garden that needed to be picked out from among the waste material, such as the pods, etc. I gathered those containers in front of me on a TV tray and managed to get in about an hour and a half of multi- tasking. I heard Gabe's advice orally, but kept my hands and eyes on the seeds I was sorting and cleaning.
I've decided that I should learn how to create podcasts too. But first I'll learn more about them, so I do them as professionally as possible.
Once you start noticing or looking for podcasts,.. they are everywhere!
