What's New: Waiting and Waiting! . . . .!

You may have seen your share of signs of Autumn by now. In fact, just this morning I've heard several talk about plans for Thanksgiving. The Canadian one is on October 13th this year.

(Americans, of course, have their Thanksgiving in November.)

Normally, I don't give a lot of attention to changing seasons,. But as of this past Saturday I have waited for 29 weeks for my niece and her husband to come to get the suite of desks that my sister Elsie had made for her when still living in Nipawin. When she and her children moved to BC in 1996 she gave me that office suite.

In March, when my sister and I were having a phone visit, she mentioned that her daughter Jalise would like to have that suite of office desks, that she had a carpenter build especially for her.

The workmanship is perfect! There's a large desk, a credenza with 4 big drawers, and two smaller desks with a keyboard tray, and a wide board to join the two. - I've had like 29 years of use of this suite. First in Mom & Dad's house and then in this one of my own. However, I always felt there were not enough drawers to suit me. Plus, it fills up this room and makes it crowded.

So when my sister told me this, I spun around to look at the desk set and I said, "She can have it - but they'll have to come get it as I can't afford to have it shipped."

Well, Jalise assured me they would come get it with their truck but it would have to be a Saturday as her husband teaches computers in Edmonton. She was going back to Abbotsford for a month to help with a poling station for the election there.

But I've been waiting now... (I've recently ticked the weeks off - a full 28 weeks!)

I had a desk built for me too while in Hague, and it is an 8 foot long desk with pillars of drawers. Mine takes up much less room, and had more drawers! Plus I have a metal filing cabinet with 4 drawers waiting in the basement as well.

I've been praying every day that they will show up THIS SATURDAY! Would you like to join me in these prayers? I try hard not to be impatient but - I'm not always succeeding!

The changing seasons reminds me that moving these desk units in winter would not be fun for them. The sooner the better!

<*> TIPS & SOLUTIONS: <*>

No More Flies, Ants or Cochroaches

Pour 300 ml of water into a flying pan.
Add 2 Tablespoons of cloves.
Heat until the water changes colour
Add 2 Tablespoons of baking soda
the mix will fizz quite a bit.

Pour into a spray bottle and slip in some wet bay leaves (they will fold better wet)

Spray this mixture on your counters, window sills, and any other place these insects find a way into your house.

Soon all those insects that are present will be gone, and new ones will generally avoid your home totally!
