This Federal Election?

Well, I went out early before 8 am yesterday to cast my vote before the lineups got too long. I ended up at the wrong poling place at first, but was re-directed to the high school about two blocks from me, and I seemed to be one of the very few early birds.

As I left the students started to arrive for classes.

I was watching some results online after supper but suddenly came down with a stomach cramp and it suddenly wanted to empty!

After a bit I curled up on the recliner, shivering and covered myself with a quilt. That wasn't enough so I went to bed and used a heating pad to warm my tummy.

After 3 am I woke to hear my computer still noisy with a drama. I got up much better, but realized the best I could do was turn things off and go back to bed. I'm as good as new today. (Well, I hope for a nap later.)

But I heard on the alarm radio this morning that not all the votes have been counted yet. Just enough so that they are quite sure Mark Carney is our new Prime Minister.

I just checked on the internet and they are still busy counting votes.

No. I have no forecast of what to expect, but I do know that no matter who is in government our God is still in charge. He can guide and over-rule the mistakes our leaders make, or turn them into a blessing if we maintain our faith in HIM.

When Pressured to Make a Decision

You may recall that two weeks ago I attended an online Summit or Conference with 35-37 speakers sharing their experiences in running online businesses as Christians. I took 10 pages of notes and have been reviewing them and making lists of things I do want explore more and carefully consider if I want to take that up. So far I've identified 23+ ideas I want to explore the more.

But then I will have to decide how many I can honestly work into my already full days. Some of those speakers got my email when I accepted their offer of a freebie (mostly ebooks or PDF files). They are emailing me daily wanting me to take more help from them. I am definitely feeling some pressure, but I have resolved... and written to 2-3 of them to explain that I cannot make a decision until I've finished my research and praying about this. I will not be able to do ALL of their methods.

But here is where prayer and listening carefully for God's Spirit to show me which choices will be best for me. (If some of them put on too much pressure I delete their emails.)

If you find yourself in such a situation; pressured to decide, be strong and refuse to decide until you have heard clearly from the LORD.

I trust I'll have more tips for the research work and the praying and deciding stages in the future. But if we cling to the LORD He will truly guide us - and we shall marvel and rave about the answers He gave us when it is all over.

Note: if I need a day for each of 23 topics to study I may be a whole month or more at this stage! I trust it won't be quite so overwhelming!

But I keep remembering Mom saying to me, "If you start it you must FINISH IT!" So I handle this "start" phase with great earnestness!
