The Family Herald

Does your family also have a Herald? That is the person who - when they hear of someone having a problem, - makes it their business to notify everyone else in the clan what that problem is.

In our case it is my youngest sister, Erma. She called on Sunday and I explained what happened to me.

By yesterday she had called our cousin June here in the city, and she came over to check on me and brought me some apples, and assured me that I could call any time I need something. However, she is now working part-time for her husband, a lawyer and was in a hurry... so I won't ask too much.

Until the extreme pain dies down I will be on the lookout for some kind, caring people to maybe fetch some groceries for me, or even do some cleaning around here. I can only be on my feet for a few minutes - then I NEED sit down with my heating pad at my back.

I do take painkillers 2-3 times a day, but the heating pad provides the most comfort.

One thing I'm thankful for is that on Friday I finished the 3 weeks getting the documents ready to get that model sent off to the USA. It was to be picked up for shipping yesterday, but somehow that did not happen, and ChitChats is closed today as a holiday, so hopefully that will happen tomorrow morning.

I was looking forward to going back to my full routine, but obviously it will be slower until January. Maybe I need more lessons in Patience, eh?

The Best Things to Remember

Today is Remembrance Day, as you must know. It is intended to remember and honour those who died in the World Wars to bring peace to our nations.

My Uncle Pete ran away as a youth and joined the Canadian army and was stationed in Korea for some time, but I am not aware of any other soldiers in our clan.

Perhaps that is why my mind roams around looking for other things worth remembering.

Even in my own rather tame life as a rule, I see many things God has allowed or brought into my life for my own good and for His glory.

As I described the last three weeks and all I've learned about shipping over the border... I realize that once again God has brought trials into my life that help me to learn information and skills that I will need further on into my life.

It does provide some drama to tell others of all that I've been through these weeks, but my point of gratitude is that I won't need to learn this over and over in the time to come. I can JUST USE what I learned.

Perhaps you have more 'learned treasures' than you realized too, eh?
