I was pleased to go out into the warm sunshine in the back yard on Saturday, and to realize that even though we my get the snow that is forecast for tomorrow and the day after we are in the spring season.
I decided that I needed rain water to water my indoor plants so I turned the rain barrel right side up again, and put some 2x4s underneath to keep it steady. Also I cleaned the eaves- trough and attached it to the downspout again, and the free end over the barrel. All set!
Does your mind turn to gardening now, as well? Or to cleaning up the yard. You probably did that in the fall, as did I, but lo, what mess the winter snows leave behind.
Unpredictable weather changes may continue here into May, however, usually we can start some yard work and maybe even dig up the garden soil, or start planting the most hardy of our plants so they get a head-start.
Much as I enjoy gardening, I'm hesitating a bit because I do not know for sure how much physical effort my body can take this summer.
I've lost height, weight, and where I had muscles in my arms that is all loose, wrinkled skin now. But I remind myself that I had that problem last spring too, and once I'd been working out in the garden at least an hour a day, I got muscles again in about a month.
Shall I try to cut back, or look for someone to hire for help with the garden? Can I even afford them? Waiting for answers to these BIG questions.
Have you had to face these questions as well? What answers did you come to?
I imagine you also have a bunch of little extra jobs you're meaning to get to, but time keeps slipping away on you.
I've just decided recently to jot them down on a sheet of paper as fast as I think of these projects and write them down under some loose category headings, such as;
Long-Range Business projects
Business Housekeeping projects
(eg. bits of bookkeeping, reports to print out, etc.)Personal Projects
Gifts & Favours for others
Then, I plan to post these lists in spots where I need to be reminded of them. Hopefully, seeing them in a large enough font, I will spot them at convenient moments and make short work of one or two of those small projects. Then check them off!
I'm thinking I may become inspired to finish off these lists, so I can triumphantly drop those lists in the garbage.
(What are the chances we'll be making up new lists before the
first lists are all done?
