My Friends are my RoseBouquet

The Miracle Last Tuesday (13th)

I finished writing and published the RoseBouquet by about 11:30 last Tuesday. So I plunged in and did the installation all over again.

I was done in an hour and 3 minutes. But the same problem with the backup drive persisted. The LEAP system still gave me that error message: "unknown error mounting that drive." Panic was beginning to rise in my mind/heart; What solution is there??

I tried it on Tom's Windows computer which is always open too, to listen to the Christian online radio station BBNRadio.org. It also has my genealogy database on it, as it only works on a Windows computer.

That Windows computer had NO trouble mounting that backup drive. I cast about for how to copy all my files to another device... like maybe a batch of DVDs? Then I discovered that computer has no programs that allow me to copy to a CD or DVD.

While I stood there puzzling what to try next, I spied my older backup drive the same size and - it appeared to have the same cable. I was pondering how to hook them together and then into this desktop... when I tried the cable on the older one in the newer Backup drive. Just on a chance I plugged it into this computer.

Presto! No trouble mounting it at all! My jaw fell in surprise! So it didn't involve any fussy coding, just an older cord! Wonderful!

I became SURE that some of my friends must be praying for me, because I could not see how this solution would have come to me any other way.

So I quickly put the backup into a split screen with the hard drive and started dragging over the folders full of files.(Then I went to my kitchen to get some belated lunch).

This new backup drive (TOSHIBA.EXT) has 2 TB of space. I got it just weeks ago with my rewards points from using my credit card. I knew that all my backups from the other system only came to .76 TB - less than half this drive. I had loaded it over 2 days about a month ago, but then spent all of Sunday evening updating the files and folders that I had done work on recently. - So, it took the rest of Tuesday afternoon and into the evening to get all those files copied to this hard drive.

I spent the evening starting to set up my emails again in KMail. I got 9 of 21 emails done, when suddenly a flood of emails came in - mostly from ICM (who I knew would be wondering why I had not answered any emails yet this week). Explaining to them what happened took the rest of the evening.

So I finished setting up those emails on Wed. and in the evening also set up those that I check just once a week, in Thunderbird.

The leaders of Manna Publications, another client, were writing to ask what had become of me, and what about the editing I had promised to do on their US website. I'd told them I'd do it on Thursday night. I did that as promised; and finished just after midnight.

I was thinking my troubles were over, I could finally get back to my business hours schedule for this year.

Somehow, yesterday my emails started showing me popups that complained they couldn't reach the mail server on the websites.

About early afternoon I logged into one site and saw a whole new LOOK n' FEEL to the cpanel. There was an announcement that they were switching to a new theme (I wonder if that's what brought on the problem: I was not able to login to the cPanel of any of the sites in my care after that!

I spent the latter hours of the evening explaining this to someone at Support/Chat at Hostgator. S/he finally gave up and said the matter was being escalated to the top level of support. That I would get an email today when it is all fixed. - That has not happened yet.

Just as my alarm was ringing at 6 am this morning, a phone call came, and I heard a client from the UK leaving a message to let me know their website was down. He called again at 7 am while I was in my bath.

I've told my youngest sister and a friend, who sometimes call very early in the mornings, that I have a new policy. I do not dash to answer the phone until I'm dressed and in my right mind. (The danger of skidding on a mat is too great!)

But I felt a great calm peace.

Since my regular domain emails were not working I used Tom's old computer to access a deserted gmail address to notify my clients that I knew all about the websites being down. In fact, ALL the websites in my care (now 15) and all my domain emails (over 24) are inaccessible too.

Partly this may be became I'm getting used to this constant internet crisis life-style, but mostly I'm learning to lean on the LORD, when I've done all I can do. At the right time God will step in and sort things out.

There are other things I can do while I wait, ebooks, and pulling weeds in the garden ... for instance.

P.S. Besides, you won't be upset if this issue arrives later today? Right?
