My Friends are my RoseBouquet

Hobbling Around - Healing Slowly

I apologize if you find this depressing, but this is what is happening at my place these days. I'm still dealing with my back injury.

I have found since last week Wed-Thursday night that sleeping in my recliner instead of my bed at night is better for my back and makes it easier to get up in the morning.

Also, just in the last day or so I've discovered that if I am more punctual to take my pain pills every four hours, and I use my heating pad to keep my back warm all day and night, I end up with less intense pain.

I do manage to hobble around when necessary to take care of my basics, however, most of the time I need to have one hand on my cane and the other on some nearby furniture so that my spine does not have to support my full weight while on my feet.

Having my knees bent when in the recliner seems to stretch my spine some which eases the pressure on the pinched nerve.

I can do some work at the computer, but have needed more naps, so I do get flashes of guilt about not being back to full pitch on my business goals. However, online research indicates that a herniated disc takes about 6 weeks to heal. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks done, so just 3 more to deal with and I may expect to be back to my usual pace.

and given me gifts of food; fruit including jumbo strawberries!

You may be pleased to learn that some friends have dropped by and given me gifts of food; fruit including jumbo strawberries!

On Sunday late afternoon my ESL students came by with a hamper full of food from the Chinese lunch I had missed out on; more fruit, Chinese rice with ribs, turkey & shrimp! Plus a deluxe chocolate cake! This food should last all week! (Well, the fruit and cake are finished already).

So I don't really have to cook my meals; just stand at the table beside the fridge, and load up a small plate with all I can eat at one time.

(I did manage yesterday to stand at the sink and wash 3 days' worth of dirty dishes).
