My Friends are my RoseBouquet

A Texting "Learning Curve"

If you already have been texting a long time, my newbie learning curve with texting may amuse you.

If you already have been texting a long time, my newbie learning curve with texting may amuse you.

Hopefully, you'll be kind enough to send me your tips when you see how needy I am.

I first got this iPhone a few months ago when it seemed I could not ship the car models that I sold from my website unless I had such a capable phone. I have not used it that way ever since.

However, my one sister and a cousin have discovered my iPhone number and so I've been pressed into a corner, so that I need to know how to reply to their text messages.

My first frustration is that they don't start out with, "Hi! are you busy right now?" So I need to drop whatever I'm doing to answer - even if I was praying. Do I need to ask them to text "Knock-knock" first?

If they did that would it be okay for me to ignore them until I felt free to answer them?

I'm not used to dealing with an abrupt conversations out of the blue. What are the etiquette rules about this?

When people find out I now have an iPhone they want to send me pictures and videos!! I might want to see them, but not right while I'm doing something that is important to me. How does one maintain privacy on such a phone?

I almost feel as if I've taken the locks and door nobs off all my doors. What about privacy? If you already have been texting a long time, my newbie learning curve with texting may amuse you.

I was invited to a zoom business meeting and told I could use my phone as mic to take part in the discussions. I asked my sister how to do that, but forgot that meeting so didn't get to use that info right away. ....I think I've now forgotten how to already.

Then the matter of texting - or, typing every word I'd say on a landline phone. I'm typing or keying on my desktop for hours on end every day, my fingers know where to go on that kind of keyboard. But having to type them one key at a time on the tiny keyboard at the bottom of the iPhone screen makes my nerves tense! (Do you remember such agony?)

Do you mean I can do with my stylus stick on about 2 square inches of screen what all my 8 fingers and 2 thumbs can do on a desktop's keyboard in a perfect symphony, with hardly a tic's pause?

I feel like I'm trying to crowd another busy life on top of the busy one I already have. How long does this adjustment Phase last? Or doesn't it come at all if I struggle against it?

I'm open t some sympathetic counsel.
