My Friends are my RoseBouquet

At My Place: A Friend's Visit Did It!

A friend from church called on Sunday night to ask if she could visit the next day.

I was glad to invite her over!

She arrived right after lunch; I had not had time to do any serious tidying up, but that might have been just as well, for too much time on my feet made me tired.

I am grateful that I can be up and walking about my little house without my cane, without serious pain in my back - but if I am up and about too long, my lower back and shoulder blades do feel tired.

Being a talkative type I was soon telling her about almost everything she could see. On the phone she had asked if I needed anything, any help.

I opened up and said I'd been wondering if I could stay on my feet long enough to make a banana loaf. She quickly offered to help me.

It turned out she had the recipe in her head. I just had to find the tools, pan and get the frozen, brown bananas out of the freezer. She did the work and I was surprised at how long I moved about without sitting down.

Soon we had the banana bread pan in The oven.

She noticed the 4 ripe pumpkins under my kitchen table. I explained that I had been afraid I didn't have the strength cut them open, scrap out the seeds and bake them so the pulp could be used for pumpkin pies.

She wanted to see my biggest, sharpest knife. I got it out and was glad for her strong efforts.

In no time we got one cut open and we scraped out the seeds.

I got out brown sugar to sprinkle inside the two halves, and added some water. We found a pan big enough to hold both halves but that would fit beside the banana loaf already in the oven.

About then she decided she would need to leave, if I was okay with taking them out of the oven. The bread needed 35 more minutes.

Thrilled I went back to my recliner and was glad to settle down for a rest until the timer would go off.

It was a wonderful and productive visit!

The next day, the day I write this RoseBouquet, that I found myself, feeling tired all morning, afternoon, and evening too! My head hung sleepily most of the day!

I was well aware it was Tuesday and my day to write the RoseBouquet, but I was too sleepy/tired all day! All I could do was promise myself that I would definitely do this job today!

Happily, today I am feeling quite normal again. But mostly sitting in the recliner and banging away on the keyboard.

Obviously, I'm going to have to devise how to bring my physical stamina up some more ....like normal..
