What's New: Help Somebody Today

Mrs. Frank A. Breck
Charles H. Gabriel, 1856-1932

Look all around you ... find someone in need.
Help somebody today!
Though it be little ... a neighbourly deed,
Help somebody today!

Chorus:
Help somebody today, somebody along life's way;
Let sorrow be ended, the friendless befriended,
O, help somebody today!

Many are waiting a kind, loving word.
Help somebody today!
Thou hast a message ... O let it be heard.
Help somebody today!

Chorus:
Help somebody today, somebody along life's way;
Let sorrow be ended, the friendless befriended,
O, help somebody today!

Many have burdens too heavy to bear.
Help somebody today!
Grief is the portion of some everywhere.
Help somebody today!

Chorus:
Help somebody today, somebody along life's way;
Let sorrow be ended, the friendless befriended,
O, help somebody today!

Some are discouraged and weary in heart.
Help somebody today!
Someone the journey to heaven should start
Help somebody today!

Chorus:
Help somebody today, somebody along life's way;
Let sorrow be ended, the friendless befriended,
O, help somebody today!

Keeping in Touch with Loved Ones

Do you worry about not being able to keep in touch so well with loved ones and friends? How about making a plan to do this at certain times of the day or week, and making a list of those you want to connect with regularly.

Now for some a phone call works best. For others it is better to write out your message, because... well, some of our closest people have a habit of interrupting and scattering the conversation a dozen directions. For those it is better to write up a letter or a card with just the things you want to say to them.

For those with whom you enjoy chatting about many different topics, it would be better to do the visit over the phone. Unless, of course, you only have time to make one to a couple of key points - then to say you have to go, and close off that visit.

A plan like this has to be adjustable, so be prepared to make some changes to your plan, but if you organize your time it will help you to be in charge, and perhaps even to connect with more people than if you wait for them to call or write you.

If you let them be in charge, you can be kept on edge, or growling under your breath. Decide whether you want some control.
