Tf you do serious deep-cleaning, especially among your files, you probably have experienced a sudden discovery of something you forgot you had - and it stops you in your tracks as you realize you had totally forgotten you even had that book or sheet of paper!
This has happened to me several times in the last few days. Even last night I took time to open a small box that I had labeled "Ideas" on the lid. It was full of cards and small booklets and pieces of paper on which I've jotted down ideas I've had over the last few decades.
I pulled out a handful of stand-up cards I'd made for the tables at a banquet, and set them aside to discard, but then I came to a sheet of paper on which I had summarized the main ideas out of a book that is about 2 inches thick and I've already read all through in 1980, then in 1999, and also in 2015. It is called, "The Spiritual Man" by Watchman Nee.
I recall that the first two readings were in the years I was a receptionist and switchboard operator at the Philips Electronics plant in London, Ontario, where they made light bulbs. (By the thousands!) It was a slow job, so I had lots of time to read there! Truly, I had enjoy this book a lot, and learned much from it.
Just before shutting down the computer I read that sheet of paper with the summary, and suddenly I was hungry to read that book again! I stood up and looked at the books on the shelves on the wall behind me. As soon as I spotted it I took it down, and while it fell apart in 3 sections, I flipped through the pages and recalled that it had made a profound influence on my Christian life each time I had read it.
Promptly I decided that I must do this again! Soon! But my days are already so full. By the time I was ready for bed I convinced myself that I would really try hard to finish my working hours by midnight and then allow myself 15-30 minutes to read a few pages in this book and renew my interest in all it has to offer. I'm sure it will speak to me all over again!
It will take several months, but it will be worth it all.
If you google the name, Watchman Nee, you will see that he was a Christian in China who spent 20 years in prison for his faith, but there he wrote many books. I recall reading 4 or 5 of his books that are not nearly as thick as this one, but when I did a quick search I found that he wrote in fact, 45-50 books. And they are still available! Wow!
(Nee was born in 1902 and died in ...I think, 1972).
Bad smell in sneakers or shoes can be removed by tying a few teaspoons baking soda into a cotton rag, and put it into the sneakers/shoes. Overnight the smell will be gone.
To make bouquets of cut flowers last longer, add a 50/50 mixture of lemon and sugar in water. The flowers will last weeks longer. (Lemon lowers the pH of water and sugar replaces the missing glucose.)
For rusted fences, check for oak trees, sweet chestnut, cedar and redwoods that touch the fence. Trim them away and stop the fencing from rusting.
