Those of us living in Canada know that Canada Day falls on July 1st. I know there are places where such a national holiday is celebrated in a huge way. Maybe not as loud and party-like as in the USA, on July 4th, but I know that Canadians are known to make a weekend holiday event out of this holiday.
Did you celebrate this holiday?
Not me. It's a quiet work day for me. I can be glad to be Canadian without making noise.
I've had my higher up east window open now for at least two weeks or more. It lets in the fresh night air and the next day the house has a very comfortable temperature all day without a need for fans or A/C.
But last night, around 10 pm I heard popping sounds through that window. I wondered what my neighbours were up to; (they do have a fire pit in a steel bowl in the backyard and sometimes have friends over and the sit around it to drink and tell stories.)
I checked. They were not out there. But looking out through my back porch windows I saw and I heard fireworks. (Back to work at my computer).
About 20-30 minutes later I heard fireworks again. This time closer and more east-ward.
Close to midnight I heard a third bunch of loud explosions. I didn't even get up to look. I just hoped they realized that July 1st was just about over, and I was ready to go to bed.
I know you are curious to see my delightful daisies. I would be! so here are two shots, one towards the house behind the daisies. The second one is looking over the daisies close-up and seeing the street view...
