Blest with Sunny Skies

Now here is a riddle I can't explain: why do we get sunny skies and good temperatures for working outside, cleaning up the yard and starting the garden - while many communities in northern Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC are fighting countless fires or bused away to safety in big southern city hotels, while their properties are burned to a crisp?

I heard an interview on CBC radio last evening, with a woman, together with her family, had chosen to stay and fight off the fires from their big ranch, with many cattle and several unique businesses, including a lovely venue to cater wedding services. She said there were 7 big fire trucks in the local fire hall, but because so many had been bused away to safety, there was no one to help spray water on the fire-fronts - except her family members, using their own resources.

Inconsistencies like this are hard to understand. The least I can think to do is to pray for them - at least try - and to be grateful that I am not fighting off wild fires.

"Oh LORD, have mercy on us all, and help us to be merciful to others!"

eBooks that Help You Pray

Do you struggle first, to make time to pray? Or is it what to pray about? Or is it - how to choose the right prayer words?

My first recommendation is to read just one Psalm (chapter) a day, or one out of Proverbs. You are bound to identify with one verse - maybe several in each such Bible chapter. Then just pray that concept back to God, either praising Him for the matter as it applies to you, or begging for that very gift, ability or promise you find there.

There are also many devotional books that have just one short page per day to read. (Some have 365 pages).

A number of years ago I started writing out one such page each morning after reading just a few verses in the Bible, or often on a theme, such as examining a verse about JOY and mulling over how to develop more of that in my life. Or hunting principles for how to conduct myself as Christian business woman online by studying the lives of outstanding Bible characters.

These devotional ebooks are now beginning to populate my eBook Store online. You will find some there already at this address: Bouquet's Books

Some of these smaller ebooks are offered for free on another page - but I've begun to edit/polish up more of these ebooks to add to my store. There are some other categories there too, but if getting into regular prayer times, with lessons you can apply immediately, and each page ends with a short sample prayer you may feel free to use as your own that day.

After going through a book or two like this, you may find that you are able to do this on your own with just your Bible in hand.

I price them low, but if you can't afford one at all, let me know, and I'll make a gift of one of my devotional ebooks to you.
