Answers for Last Week's Puzzle

Several friends wrote to suggest where I might find answers. Those situations were somewhat different. What works on a Windows 11 doesn't necessarily help a linux system.

I did get a number of update reminders, but when I gave the system permission to do the updates, it complained that it was missing something. This happened several times a day for more than a week.

I checked some more forums where this problem was discussed and the general consensus I saw was that this was getting to be a common problem, which meant the developers and smart propeller-heads would soon have figured out a solution.

I had already okayed several updates, but then the system complained that there was some file missing.

Then last evening another urgent message to update came in, and when I gave permission the downloads started, stalled a while and suddenly sorted itself out and lo, I had 14 new updates all successfully applied!

So far I have not run into that problem today, so maybe... it is truly cleared up!

There are days, right, where our computer has to be treated like an antsy pet that doesn't really know if it wants to be let out, or let back into the house.

Eventually, it makes up it's mind. Or you decide for it.

Need a New Calendar for 2025?

Some years, when you go around to various businesses they are glad to hand out a new calendar. In December, and so far in January, I have not happened into such a situation. But I do like an extra calendar in the bathroom to jot down some key bits of into. Or, even just markers to indicate how long one project took.

It is possible to go online, and choose a calendar, download it and print it out on your printer.

I just stapled my 12 pages on an old filing folder that still looked clean and neat. It has nice big squares into which I can jot reminders, etc.

City Hall has 12/months to a page calendars which You can print out to have reminders already printed for you as to when your garbage big has to be put out for the next morning, or maybe the recycle bin, or the compost bin. I usually take that sheet on the inside of a kitchen cabinet door, so I can look it up quickly without having a messy space on the wall.
