Back again about my booklet! Yes, It has eaten up lots of time in recent weeks and months but last night I was determined to print up a batch of 10 booklets and get them sent out to friends and relatives who do not have computers or email so I cannot send them images or ebooks that way, nor the links to download them from my website. (In some cases they may have a phone or an old computer, but they don't know how to open such items piggybacked on the email.
I had to thank God again that Mom had taught me to persevere and not give up even when I run into problems. All was going well at first, then the gremlins crept in. Like, suddenly there was no sign of my cursor on the screen, so I couldn't give the command to print 10 more copies of the next page! I went down into the basement to bring up some old "mice" to try them in place of my usual "mouse." I tried a number of different things. Nothing seemed to wor... Oops! Yay! There's my cursor again!
Then I tried to give the command to print and it would NOT! Again more research. I don't recall now how I stumbled on the idea that I needed to delete the last commands to print that had been successful. Then it would accept a new command. Huh? Where did this come from?
I had managed to add 3 pages to a personal letter to a former roommate of mine, but it was only after that last step that my printer would print those pages.
When those were done I could go back to printing the 10 each of the last 4 sheets, (which when folded make 4 pages each for the booklet). By that time it was midnight, but I was determined to get finished. And I was at 1 am!!
Today I will finish addressing the envelopes and scribbling in some personal notes - but at last this mailing will be done and can be taken to the post office.
Yes, I definitely owe Mom a big "Thanks" for forcing me to persevere through problems and NOT giving up! I've gained a number of skills that way, and learned about problem-solving!
Maybe you don't need this tip, but having done it twice within 7 days, I think this is a good tip to have, especially if it falls to you to put away the garden hose for winter.
Drain all the water out while still outside.
Do this on a warm day outdoors, or bring the whole hose into the house. Let it lie underfoot for a bit so the rubber warms up. You can start with a wet rag to wipe down the hose from one end to another. (This will ease your conscience.)
Now you need to find a sturdy box, a wooden one is best, but a strong cardboard box can do. It can be about 2 X 3 feet in diameter and maybe 1.5 or 2 feet deep.
Coil the hose in the box as neatly as possible. Perfection is not required, but it will make you feel good.
Now pull/drag the box where you want to store the hose, or if you or some helper is strong enough, let them carry it to the storage space.
Remember: if you take it to the basement you will also have to bring it back up in spring. Can your back handle that?
