My tiny 610 sq foot house looks crowded on any given day, in every room, but I do try to keep it tidy. However, right now it is extra cluttered. Why?
Well, when I moved here after Dad died in Hague, and I had to find myself a new home, I was able to claim whatever I felt I would need from Dad's house.
Also, about 10 years earlier when my sister Elsie moved to BC to train for a new career, she had not been able to take with her the office desk suite she'd hired an excellent carpenter to build for her. (That was for a bookkeeping business she planned to run from her home in a community up north.) Since she could not ever get it into her van to take along she offered it to me.
I was glad to use it in Dad's living room, and when she moved to BC, I was quite happy to move it to my new home here in Saskatoon. (Church friends moved me with their truck and a van.)
It was tricky to arrange the pieces to allow a path from the front door, through to the kitchen at the back of this wee house, but with several heads put together, we figured it out.
A couple of Sundays ago when my sister phoned me, and we had a long-long chat, she hinted that her daughter would like to have that desk of hers which she gave to me.
I said "sure," thinking of my dreams of having the back porch taken away and a larger sunroom/office built there, so I could watch my garden grow when I was thinking or daydreaming.
One morning last week, I paused in my prayer time to stare at the desk units, and realized that the sunroom would need to be quite large to contain all the pieces.
My cousin Gary, (my handyman, who is retiring from his heavy cementing and paving jobs, but is still willing to do reno jobs, has told me that my dream for that sunroom/office could cost me over $10,000. So I'll have to save up for a while!!
But then I remembered the long desk I'd had built for me in Hague, to fit into my long, narrow room in the basement there. It is now adding clutter to my basement, but it has more filing drawers. Plus I have tall metal filing cabinet with 4 drawers.
So when my niece and her husband come with a truck to take away this deluxe suite, I can get help to bring up my old one which has more compact units.
Then this room will look less crowded and so will my basement!
On Saturday I emptied the credenza drawers into bins and boxes, which are now stacked around this room, creating the cluttered look I mentioned at the top.
There will still be no room for a couch that can turn into a guest bed in this room, but it will look much better! So will the super-cluttered basement!
If the LORD delays His second coming, and I some how earn enough for my dream sunroom/office. I may eventually be able to spread out even more!
