I was taught as a child, that to keep asking over and over again for something could cut me off from ever getting what I was begging for. I quickly learned that begging or nagging like that was not worth it. Better to keep quiet and wait.
Mom heard me the first time, and preferred to give me what I wanted in a time and way that she liked. I had to admit that nagging was not a good habit to form.
However, yesterday I had a moment of epiphany in my prayer time. I was reviewing God's promises and came again to Luke 11:9-10. It says, "So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; Knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."
I've been thinking for some time now that Lord truly is inviting me to ASK and SEEK the resources I need to do His will, and when I see a door of Opportunity, I should knock. But it occurred to me yesterday that I've been hesitant to repeat my requests and searches too often for fear of wearing out my welcome. It came to me that maybe God really intended for me to be more persistent in my asking. I have no trouble researching for information online (which seems impersonal), so why would I hesitate to remind the LORD of my unique requests?
I thought about this for a while, considering the various sides of this question; Is there a time when it is okay to keep asking every day? Or is there a point when God might say, "Stop nagging me!"
Do you ever think along these lines?
I finally concluded that making lists and keeping them to myself, but sometimes picking one and asking the LORD, to provide that might be better than my ways in the past, but that God really was waiting for me to present my needs and show Him, how I'd use them to glorify HIM, and tell my friends what He had provided or done for me. That would give me some great testimonies to share - which would, for sure, bring glory to His name! Right?
I don't have tremendous testimonies to share just now, but I'm sensing I am on the right track and getting excited for the happenings ahead!
I'm willing to read your feedback or conclusions.
