Is a rainy day an "UP" or a "DOWN" on your day? Some people see them as very depressing - they become quite blue and disgruntled.
As a gardener I'm quick to say, "I love it when the LORD takes the watering shift!" For one thing, He does a much better job than I do with the hose and the sprinkler attachment. Also, I don't have the extra expense on my Utilities bill!
I did give half a sigh this morning, because this means I won't very likely be pulling more weeds in the front flowerbeds after supper. (I had hoped to get that job all finished this week in just one or two more sessions.)
But then I remember also, that with the heat we have again this summer, there is great danger of forest fires. So every rainy day is a good day, in that the forest fires are put out much better than when the planes have to fly over the fires and drop water bombs.
While I'm brainstorming for more reasons to like and rejoice in a rainy day, it occurs to me that today I can get to some projects that are on my "...if I can ever find time for that!" list.
I've already picked two to choose from during the hour after supper when I usually go out to pull weeds into a tall white 10 gallon (I think) pail.
We had some rainy days last week, so yesterday I was able to dash out to the garden when I had supper started, and quickly picked enough nice green spinach leaves for my salad. Thanks to those rains of last week!
Most of the garden is popping up with plants, and I'm grinning with anticipation for all the vegetables and fruit I shall have later. Even some rows that appeared to be duds - now have recognizable plants showing up! Yes, including four rows of tomatoes - not started indoors but sown directly into the garden soil on Victoria Day in early May!
My melon patch, seeded week before last, now has healthy little plants showing up. I will be able to give away from my bounty!
See? I feel very "UP" about a rainy day!
