Two weeks ago I told you that I had had a series of lab tests, and then ultra-sound and x-rays too, and then I was waiting for this new doctor to let me know of the results. I thought he said he was going to be away for a week's vacation, but he didn't call last week.
Then yesterday I got a call from the clinic, asking me to call in this morning to set up an appointment with another doctor for 1 pm, because Dr. Watts was away for the whole month. Hmmm??
I agreed of course, because I do want to know the results. But the temperatures this morning are like -22 with a wind chill factor making it feel like -43 Celsius. So even though the sun is shining again after a super-duper snow storm all this last weekend, it is not smart to spend too many minutes outdoors.
I had more than 2 feet of snow against my back door yesterday! But my elderly friend, EW, came by and when I gave him my gate key he went around and entered from the back alley gate, to shovel the snow out of my garden path.
After thinking about it for a few minutes I decided it was not fair that he should do all that work by himself, so I found taller, bigger old boots down in the basement, bundled up and went to work on pushing that back door again and again, until the snow was backed off enough so that I could slip out the door sideways. I grabbed Dad's old aluminum Grain shovel and started throwing away the snow from the back deck, and by then EW had go to the bottom steps, so we both cleared those.
By that time I was cold enough to come back inside, but, God- Bless him, EW cleared the garden path down to the cement and then came in to warm up.
So I was bracing myself to go out and try to drive in this cold weather to the clinic this afternoon. But I'd been told to phone first, so I started doing so at a bit after 9 am and at first just got busy signals. Finally, after more tries, I got a recording, saying to hold, as I was caller # 10. Whoa! So I stayed on the phone for half an hour and just before 10am got on to a live receptionist.
She checked my file and told me that a Dr. Helfrick would call me at 2 pm this afternoon, to give me the results. Of course I googled that name and although she doesn't show up on the clinic's website, there is a Dr. Leanne Helfrick in our city.
I was almost shouting "Hallelujah!" as I said, "Oh that means I don't have to go out to fight the cold temperatures?" The receptionist agreed.
It also means I won't have to leave the RoseBouquet half done to keep that appointment.
I've been learning that it is good to praise and thank God for answers to prayer before we receive them, and I see this is a very good approach. I'm resolved to practice it a lot more!
