Are you in something of a tizzy, trying to decide which people you will invite over for Easter dinner or supper, and exactly what will be on the menu, and which dishes you can make ahead?
Likewise, here with me.
The last few years I've invited other single seniors like me, as I know they don't have a family to go home to. But last week already I found myself thinking it would be a good idea this time to invite my ESL (English as a Second Language) students at church to come experience a Canadian Easter feast (with a few Mennonite influences).
We had a noon lunch this past Sunday at church and I sat with three of the students around my table. So I hinted at this, but I don't think they knew what I was talking about. (I'll have to make my invitation more specific.)
But then I wonder about those other senior singles. I don't have room in my wee house for a total of about 10 guests. My dining table only seats four... however, one Christmas I had one of the men help me bring up a loose door from the basement, and we laid it across the table and one of my desks, and we did have a big crowd there. But it all turned out okay.
I just recall that I'd tried to do all the meal preparation in that same afternoon, so by the time we were seated around that door/table I was too exhausted to really enjoy the meal myself.
I do have a turkey in the freezer, and a big sack of potatoes. I think I have all the other fixings, although I tell myself to get the desserts and extras done earlier this week.
Otherwise, I might persuade myself in the future that I'm too old for hosting this kind of full-meal-deal.
Your prayers will be much appreciated, but if you have had to deal with decisions like this, and you know a good way to deal with the whole issue - I'd really like to see/read your ideas.
May I wish You and Your family and special guests a very Blessed Easter this weekend, and great joy as you celebrate together, and encourage one another. Hopefully, in the Lord!
