Name What We Have to Work With

In Genesis chapter 2:15 I see that the Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. His first assignment was to study all the animals and birds of the air, and to name them.

Understanding well enough to name what we have to work with is always a good idea in any line of work.

The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” (Gen. 2:18)

Understanding well enough to name what we have to work with is always a good idea in any line of work.

The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” (Gen. 2:18)

By the second part of verse 20, when Adam had named all the livestock, birds, and beasts of the fields, he could see too, that there was no suitable helper for him, as there was in the male and female pairs in the animal kingdom. Is it odd that God waited until Adam could see his own need too?

That was when God put Adam into a deep sleep for surgery. He took out a rib and created a suitable helper, a partner for Adam, to help him in his work.

Adam instantly recognized her as perfect partner for him when he woke!

Adam recognized the woman as bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh and called her “woman.” Neither of them had a father or mother (aside from God), Genesis 2:24 says, For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. And, The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame. (vs. 25). [There’s a separate study on marriage in these verses.]

At the earliest stages of our business we need to identify and name who and what we have to work with. A clear understanding of what is going on around us, and what our purpose and plans shall be must be seen and understood before we can proceed.

Most successful business people take time for a solid evaluation period at the beginning. If we don’t know how to do it, we should get help with this.

My First BIG Decisions for My Business:

I will study any new business plan or program so that I understand it well; how to conduct this business wisely. I want to know what I am to work with.

I think things through fairly carefully, thinking ahead to know what I need to have ready to succeed with my ideas. In other words, I saw that I needed to name what I have to work with. Do I have the skills needed to finish my ideas?

From Noah I learned the importance of not quitting! No matter how hard or long a project will take. I still believe that – so, with God’s assurance of His help, - I keep Keeping on!

I invite you to make similar decisions for your business or other Big Plans.
