That is about as short a description as I can write. Last week was a treat in so many ways, but it meant being focused on my desktop screen for long hours every day.
Gabe, the hostess lives in the mid-west, USA, but this was going out across all the time zones of this north American continent. Those on the eastern seaboard had to be up and watching videos by 8 am. I had until 10:30 am so I could get my devotional time done (making it half-time), and have my breakfast. But the rest of my day was gobbled up with the general session, and some break-out sessions on Tue. and Thurs. so we could meet others like ourselves and get a bit acquainted.
After that we could go down the list of speakers and watch their videos in any order we chose, but there were mostly 7-9 of those to choose from. Of course, I wanted to watch ALL of them! So I watched all afternoon and evening, and just paused to get a quick lunch or supper from the kitchen and eat while I watched and listened and took notes. (Yes, 17 pages of fast scribbling to decipher now!)
I also went to the websites of most of these speakers and requested the freebie they offered, but of course I had to give them my email as that was how it was delivered.
Now that led to something unexpected. Those people had a good reason for asking for our email. Some of them started sending me 3 emails at a time! They wanted me to sign up for their particular skill or service, etc.
Whoa! I replied to the first 2 or 3 of them, and complained that I was in a state of serious OVERWHELM, and I was not going to make decisions to sign up for anything at all until I can study my notes, pray about what the LORD wants me to do, and make sure I don't take on more than I can chew!
Now I just let them sit in my inboxes (I gave out 2 different emails). They can wait until I know what God's agendas for me is going to include.
I did learn quite a bit about podcasts, but not enough to know how to produce them - tho' I gather they are free! I liked several other ideas, but must consider how much work is involved, and how can I fit them into my already full daily/weekly agendas?
One woman stressed that we should pick just one or two ideas and not to overload ourselves, or we'd collapse. Good idea!
But now I need to weigh which ideas are best for me, how much research do I need to do to learn them, and how can I rearrange my time blocks to fit in the best ones.
There is - hiring of virtual staff, but on my budget - I need to be making some money first so I can afford to hire help. However, the prospects sounded quite good!
Listening to some podcasts, and signing up for some email lists could be a great way to add to my learning curve for free. ...But again, that could eat up hours of time.
So- if your care to help me out, pray that I will discern the Lord's best ideas and plans for me. (I don't want to box Him in, but hopefully...this week yet?)
P.S. Incidentally, it was a great to discover that there are so many Christians doing online businesses! Praise the LORD! (I believe there were over 200 attendees!)
