My Friends are my RoseBouquet

A Pop in the Sternum

Yesterday I was beginning to feel much better and looked forward to a cheerful, positive report today in this issue of the RoseBouquet.

Then this morning, being a Tuesday, I headed to the bathroom and got ready for my bath, sitting in the bathtub, (which I like as full as the drain under the taps will allow), I bent my head between my knees to wash my hair.

Ouch! Suddenly I felt a pop in my sternum. I caught my breath, then gently touched that area in case something had broken apart. No. So after a minute or two I bent my head and washed my hair.

I leaned back, squirted some creme rinse into my palm, working it through my hair. Then I leaned back to assess the situation.

My back pain was nearly gone, but this new pain, though not nearly as intense, could slow me down for some extra weeks.

I'm trying to take it easier today, and not to scare myself with wild scenarios - which may, or may not come to pass.

It doesn't seem anything is broken, and the lower part of our sternum is mostly cartilage so it should heal fairly quickly. (Yes, I've been researching this and now know far more than you want to learn on short notice).

So my excitement yesterday that my recovery time might be a lot shorter than first thought... has sunk, as I realize it may take longer again.

I'm just trying hard to trust the LORD to take care of me, and not to dwell on fearful thoughts about being a fragile ol' lady who can't live alone any more.

Your prayers are appreciated!
