What About the Aloe Vera Plant Sale?

Well, I only sold 3 plants.

I decided Sat. before last that the only way to make sure I didn't have more plants than I had space in front of my windows was to start giving them away left and right. That's why I was generous on Wednesday when I gave at least 4 to a cousin I've talked with on Facebook but had not seen in person for several decades. She babysits her grandchildren now, but has no car.

I took another 4 plants to another friend who used to be a missionary up north, but is now hampered by a number of health issues, and has to use a walker to keep from falling. I was surprised to find that she is also super-sensitive to light, so lives and works in a darkened room, and wears sunglasses. Yet - she makes crafts for craft sales down on 20th Street. She insisted on giving me a 3 or 4 strand necklace that she had crocheted, and a hand towel that can be buttoned over the handle of your oven door.

Friday evening I carried all the plants back indoors - this time for good - as I found I now had enough spaces for them. Some plants that didn't make it into pots before the sale are still in plastic tumblers, waiting to see if they might get a pot.

I don't know. I haven't decided yet. A few might make it and survive. The rest will probably end up as compost in the garden.

I wish they were easier to ship.

If you want some plants, you can make an appointment and I'll be happy to unload some on you.

I'm looking forward to a a rather tame, quiet winter in front of the computer, pushing ahead on those goals and agendas.

Oh yes, I must go out to take my posters off the power poles at the intersections at the ends of this block, and in the alley behind my yard. Maybe this afternoon.

<*> TIPS & SOLUTIONS: <*>

Cheeses are Good for Us After All!

You may have heard and read most of your life that cheese is not good for us, it can cause weight gain and other health issues.

Well, I read a number of years ago, that those who are sensitive to dairy products can usually manage to eat aged cheddar cheese okay, and it has lots of calcium for those of us with weak bones.

With rejoicing I took up eating Cheddar cheese every day. I like it on my breakfast muffin, and when I stand at the fridge trying to decide what to make for my next meal, I will often munch on a slice of cheddar while I consider... and weigh my options.

But generally, the official line has been that cheeses are to be rare treats. They were not healthy.

Just yesterday I read in the Consumer Reports magazine that scientists have changed their minds. Cheeses of all kinds are good for us. They do not cause excess weight. Some have maybe too much salt, but for the most part, eaten in moderation, cheeses are GOOD for us!

If you like them as much as I do, that may make you laugh out loud with delight!

P.S. Due to relentless efforts to hack into the blog, I have deleted it and move my weekly posts to this Department on my novel's site, which is all about my Friends being my Roses or RoseBouquet, and has been from the beginning, in 2001.
