The last few years I have not worried much about financial problems. (Mind you, I do have some items on a waiting list of desires.) But the client that had been paying me faithfully month by month for the work I did as their webmaster and then, since 2014 as the editor of their publication decided this fall that they would use volunteers for the editorial job, and cut back my hours for the website so that they would have funds for some other projects.
In January I got to see just how much that would cut down my income. It didn't quite meet my basic expenses budget. I tried not to worry, instead to trust God.
In the last couple of weeks, God has provided from unusual sources. Suddenly I realize that He has provided more than I had lost with the cut-back. This has cheered me up considerably and increased my faith.
Yes, we can trust ourselves to God, no matter what our problems, and He will show Himself very resourceful!
I recommend this kind of trust to You!
Are you busy this week thinking of what you will give your loved one(s) as a suitable valentine?
I was invited last week to send love messages or valentines to one of the authorized visitors to my friend who is in Palliative care in the hospital. (The one I've been able to visit twice). I was too busy last week to do anything about it, but my mind was mulling over various ideas in little pockets of free moments here and there.
In the past I've designed my own paper valentines cards for friends, but I haven't had time to do that yet for this year.
On Sunday I wondered about popping into a store and just buying some chocolates. I did go into Walmart, but the smallest packages were just about $5 and I was sure that when those chocolates came out of the pretty packaging there would be a mere handful - maybe 5 chocolates. That just struck me as too expensive for my Frugal ways.
Then yesterday I had two ideas. I have grated zucchini in the freezer, I've usually had great success when I make a chocolate zucchini cake. For the sake of the friend in hospital, (who has few teeth for chewing), I had the idea to pour this cake batter into small muffin tins.
Also, while checking for linux systems, I came across a short youtube video with someone demonstrating how to make soft pretty squares with the juice of an orange, some sugar and some millk with cornstarch. (That friend LOVES Oranges!) So I'm hoping to try both ideas today and see which works better.
If Gary shows up again today, I know it is his birthday - so he can have the Chocolate Zucchini cake.... as I'll pour most of the batter into a cake pan.
I may share these recipes next week... but you may be able to find some good ones that you know and like a lot.
