My Gas Line WAS Moved!

Yes! They got it done last week. The Sask Energy guys moved my gas line and moved the meter to the corner of the house. They spent Tuesday digging holes in the alley behind our properties, and then on Wednesday and Thursday they were cutting a trench in my patio cement. I cannot understand or explain the mechanics of it, but I did see a long yellow hose going down into that trench as if pulled by some secret machine or device in the alley.

At the end one of the men in orange outfits, stayed behind to paint the new steel pipe from the meter to where the gas line enters my basement, a nice shiny gray. Another one came downstairs to make sure the pilot light on my water heater had come back on as it should.

I brought my car from in front of my house to my tent-garage in the back, but I didn't realize how tricky it would be because of the holes they had dug in the alley. They had put a yellow frame over each one and an orange caution cone on that. I still found it tricky to drive into my garage without hitting that cone and cover.

On Saturday when I came back from the ESL picnic at church, I found that I hit that cone and had to pull it out from under my front bumper. So Sunday morning I backed out EXTRA CAREFULLY and then made a point of parking in front of my house until they have those holes fixed.

They were working out there yesterday, but as it was raining I stayed inside until after supper. Then I dashed out to have a look. No sign of the covers or cones, but there were puddles of rain water where those had been. So I'm waiting for evidence that it is safe now to drive in and out of my garage as I used to.

7 Benefits of Carrot Juice

I started juicing carrots when Dad would sow their seeds so thick (like hair on a dog), that we would get large 5 and 10 gallon pails of carrots a day! I just did that again last night after supper, and thought I'd look up the benefits. Wow! Now I wish they would grow in my garden.

1. Carrot juice is loaded with vitamin A and high in vitamins C and K. plus carotenoids, which act as antioxidants.

2. Those carotenoids, includ beta carotene, lutein, and zeaxanthin, which are vital for eye health and may protect against AMD.

3. As a rich source of vitamins A, B6, and C, carrot juice may help strengthen your immune system.

4. Compounds in carrot juice have been shown to trigger cancer cell death in test-tube studies. Hopefully, more human research is on the way.

5. The vitamin C and beta carotene, two antioxidants in carrots may protect your skin from damage. It is also necessary for the production of collagen, which strengthens skin.

6. The potassium and antioxidants in carrot juice may help lower blood pressure and decrease risk factors for heart disease.

7. Due to its high amount of anti-inflammatory carotenoids, carrot juice may protect your liver against conditions like NAFLD.

Precaution: I saw a doctor back then when I was drinking lots of carrot juice. He mentioned that I must be eating lots of carrots. When I asked how he knew, he said that the whites of my eyes were turning yellow. I didn't notice any bad side effects, but cut back on the amounts I was drinking.

Hey, it tastes like sweetened milk! Delicious!

P.S. Due to relentless efforts to hack into the blog, I have deleted it and move my weekly posts to this Department on my novel's site, which is all about my Friends being my Roses or RoseBouquet, and has been from the beginning, in 2001.
