My Batch of e-Books - Ready for Sale - Soon (I Hope!)

Yes, I'm still at work on those genealogy e-books. I will go back to check the two that I consider finished, as I may want to add more photos to the "Neudorf Network," and to the big one that is just about 600 pages - "Our Friesens & Assorted Friesens." My last edition in 2005 was about 200 pages. This edition has grown to three times that size!

This last weekend I started working on "Grandpa's Stories." It re-tells stories that Dad and his Dad (my Grandpa Friesen) told years ago. But then I've included the genealogies for our Friesen line there, plus the very long deVeer line, (3 connected files), the Spenst line (2 connected files), and now three shorter ancestral lines, the Giesbrechts, the Warkentins, and the Heidebrechts. I got the Spensts done yesterday, so now I'm hopeful that the last three will go quickly. But this e-book is over 200 pages already so it will also grow. I will take time to hunt for more photos to insert, but then I think I can call this third book done.

One more left to finish! The book that started it all in the 1980s was "A Godly Inheritance," which I wrote as a narrative to honour my Grr'ma Elisabeth (Friesen) Kroeker. That was before I ever heard of computers or the internet, so I typed up all the pages on waxy Gestetner Stencils and cranked them off on the Gestetners I had behind the furnace in my parents' house. I bound by hand 200 copies, putting glue into the spines with a toothbrush. For the covers I used cardboard and some cotton padding and a cotton print fabric that reminded me of the dresses Gr'ma used to wear, so those thick 4 pound books looked like hand-made photo albums.

The other books I mentioned were on my computer so I could just edit them right on the computer. but this one, "A Godly Inheritance," never made it to a computer yet. I made those copies in 1988. So I've been transcribing - or typing up the words from those pages as my Sunday evening project. I'm almost finished with Chapter 15. Then Chapter 16 wraps things up as they were in 1988 - Gr'ma died in 1993, so I need to add more information about that.

The last Chapter I had there was a Scrapbook chapter, quoting clippings of poems, and quotes that Gr'ma had saved. Even a page full of her favourite expressions. I think that needs to be included.

Then I had created 100 pages of genealogy charts for her Friesen line, Grandpa's Kroeker line, and then also the Neudorf line - from Gr'ma's mother's side. Since all but the Kroeker are already covered in the other e-books, I will probably restrict myself to some TREE Charts, and maybe just the 3 generations I had from Gr'ma's Binder. I do want to include colour photos this time too! I am hoping that all this can be accomplished in the next couple of weeks.

Then I'll create sales pages on my genealogy website, and add PayPal "Buy" buttons, to start selling these e-books!

I guess then I need to get the word out, and watch for feedback that says, "Hey, you didn't get my Grandchildren listed there!"

Hopefully I'm not stuck editing those e-books for the rest of this year! I do have other projects in mind!.

How to Delete a Deceased Relative's Facebook Account

My youngest sister called last week and suggested that I delete Tom's Facebook account before hackers took it over. I found out how on Sunday afternoon, and did it.

My brother Ernie called last evening to say Erma was bugging him to delete Penny's FB account. (She was his first wife, who died just days before Tom did in April 2019. I gave him instructions, but he called again this morning stuck on a point. So I explained that part for him again, and he got it done. Now it occurs to me that others may have a similar problem.

So here's the steps as prescribed by Facebook.
1. Login to your own Facebook account.
2. In the top right corner of the site is a circle with a \/ down arrow. Click on it.
3. From the drop down menu choose "Help & Support" on the next screen choose "Help"
4. On the right you will now see a menu - choose "Deleting my Account" at the bottom.
5. In the center of the next screen you will see 5 questions. Click on the last one.
6.The middle paragraph says;

"For someone over 13: Please submit a request here. We'll review the information you provide and let you know what action we can take. Keep in mind this form should only be used to report medically incapacitated users. Learn what to do if you've lost access to your account, or how to report a hacked account or deceased user."

7. "Deceased user" is linked, so click on those words.8. The next page has this question at the top; "How do I report a deceased person or an account on Facebook that needs to be memorialized?" Read the instructions carefully and carry on the ones that apply in the case with you loved one. You will need to upload some proofs, like a Funeral Director's Death Certificate, and an obituary, etc. There are quite a few to choose from. When Facebook has checked out your creditials and documents, you will be notified by email..

P.S. Due to relentless efforts to hack into the blog, I have deleted it and move my weekly posts to this Department on my novel's site, which is all about my Friends being my Roses or RoseBouquet, and has been from the beginning, in 2001.
