As I have done for the past 14 years or so, I spent the last week of December in prayer and planning for the new year. I still have some loose ends to clean up but I'll work on them in the days to come.
I am, however, quite excited for the busy agenda up ahead for me. I think I will refrain from spilling all those beans, because then we might all feel rather disappointed if it doesn't turn out that way. But stay tuned for my announcements as certain things and developements come to pass!
Oh, perhaps I can mention that last night I installed the software for a shopping cart to sell Tom's models. It took nearly four hours to upload it to the site, but I was grateful that I'd found an open source software, (free), with a good reputation and a number of awards for excellence.
However, as I was just about done with the installation, I ran into a snag. I filled in the blanks to hook it up with the database but it didn't like the text I put into that one blank. I tried every idea I could think of, but none worked. By that time it was after 1 am. So I gave up for the night, but I know I'll have to keep knocking and seeking to find the solution for that hitch. Then I'll have even more learning adventures!
Back to the present tense. I have an appointment again with my new chiropractor this afternoon. However, it has been softly snowing most of the night and still right now. I'm going to have to do some serious shoveling to get from my back door to the tent garage, and I have no idea how much snow is in the alley. Just judging by what I saw out the back porch a few minutes ago, the snow is over 12 inches deep on the wooden railing of the back steps.
I've considered just high-stepping through it all and leave it for another day.... but my boots this winter are not that tall.
Now the Granada House Restaraunt across the alley usually hires a man with a bobcat to come clear their parking lot, and he often grooms the alley some too, but I don't know if he's going to leave a high ridge outside my gate.
So....I guess I'll try - but if it is too great an effort I may just have to call in to cancel my appointment this afternoon.
I suppose if someone offered to drive me to the appointment... I might accept. Hopefully the main arterial streets are passable.
My youngest sister had organized a family reunion between us siblings and one aunt and another cousin (I had not seen her in person since 1998!) We visited for about two hours, each in our comfortable chairs, but able to see each other's faces.
Our sister Elsie who has retired this last year (May/June) from a government position, is the most educated of us all, and apparently the government department where she had worked have yet to find someone capable of replacing her, so they have hired her as a consultant to help them solve some of these problems of where - or how so many floods wiped out various BC communities.
The topic of our face masks came up and Elsie informed us that if we got masks that have copper or siliver, or both worked into them, they will be much safer for us, as those metals will kill the viruses, if our mask encounters them. Elsie has ordered herself a case of these masks online.
Our brother Ernie (in Winnipeg) had alread learned this and demonstrated with his mask.
The rest of us were quite impresed and I think all of us are now looking to get such too. I had considered sewing myself some masks because I wanted a tighter grip over my nose so that my glasses would not steam up so easily. Elsie assured me that it was smarter to look for one with copper and/or silver as the first and most important feature.
Isn't it wonderful to have such a smart sister!?
