I was summing up my research finds about a certain shopping cart system last night, and at one point it hit me that I started on this long, steep climb up this learning curve in 2018 after Tom died. First I had to allow 8 weeks to heal up my fracture in my back.
Then I spent about 3-6 weeks researching the best ways to set up an eCommerce site. I settled on the cheapest option, all free; a WordPress blog with Woo Commerce as a free plugin. I bought a domain name, and set this up and started learning how to take photos of Tom's models, and then researching them so I would know what keywords to use in describing them. It was slow, but I was getting the hang of it, and gradually got further along. But no sales.
About the beginning of this year, I began to have problems with hackers and strange technical problems for which I could not find solutions. Finally, I gave up, took all the 215 items and the photos (3-6 for each model) down and deleted that blog. I started over on a static site, but put off getting a shopping cart until I had a good number of products listed, with photos and descriptions.
I think it was around Easter that I decided it was time to install a shopping cart software so that I could start selling the models. I did my thorough research and decided that OpenCart would be the one I could work with. It was open source, meaning it was free, but I'd have to learn how to work with some coding. I was not afraid of that. But that system didn't work flawlessly, - or else, I was making mistakes and had to keep starting over again. About 4-6 weeks ago I was getting quite discouraged about that software, and prayed about it and decided to stop and do more research to find one that wasn't so complicated.
I think I've found one. I want to ask some questions before I sign up. This one has a monthly fee, but they offer unlimited technical support, and the system comes with many extras that seem so appealing! I want to ask them 3-4 questions before I decide for sure. However, I think I may be signing up with them after I've got this RoseBouquet finished and published.
It may be hard for me to hold back my horses (read: eagerness) over the weekend away, but I find HOPE rising in my mind and heart! My learning eCommerce may not be quite so steep after this!
Who would have thought this possible? If you have something like stains in your sink,or jewelry that has lost it's sparkle and gleam, you can put a blop or glob of shaving cream on it, let it sit for a few minutes and then wash it off. Presto, sparkling clean! This works for glass mirrors and shower doors too. Also to clean our glasses so we don't have to rub them clean nearly so often.
I don't have shaving cream, but since it takes me a long time to use up a can of hair setting foam I tried it with that last night on a favourite necklace where the closure loops and hooks had gone all black. It seemed to wash off some of that dark colouring.
I should try to find out what the ingredients are in the shaving cream and see if any of those match the hair setting foam.
Anyone have experience with either of these as cleaning agents?
