As I mentioned recently I've finished the rebuilding of my large ruthes-secretroses.com site, and have switched my gears to focus on polishing up some ebooks that I've written before but that need to be updated, and improved where possible.
I finished one yesterday, though I would like to put an updated/improved photo of myself on it yet.
Then it occurred to me that it would be nice to ask some friends to proof-read it and tell me if they spot typos or flaws. Maybe I could offer a free download of another ebook in return for the favour. I know that professional proof-readers charge a pretty price. But volunteers who love to read, but can't afford to buy a lot of books, are sometimes willing to experiment with a volunteer assignment. You might discover you have a real gift for this, and could start advertising your service and set your own fees.
If you are interested, let me know. I hope to work on my book of poetry this afternoon. It needs some graphic images, but I don't know if I'll find them all today.
The business ebook "40 Online Business Ideas" would be ready for proof-reading.
Oh yes, a devotional Bible study on "Angel Encounters," is ready too. So is "13 Christmas Meditations."
Be warned; if you get hooked, this could go on for a year or more!If you write to volunteer I'll send you some basic instructions, such as I gave to my proof- readers for the "Mennonite Historian" for which I was the editor for 8 years.
Go to bbnradio.org online in a separate tab of your browser. Click on the big GREEN button, and the radio is on! Adjust your speaker for the computer, so that you can carry on with your work and listen 24/7 to good music, programs, dramas, and even stories for kids.
In no time you will be hooked! (Only 8 days left until the Christmas music starts!) It won't take long either to discover programs that become your favourites; you will try hard not to miss them.
If the phone rings or someone comes to the door, I quickly turn down the volume so we can hear each other in our in-person conversations. Yes, I do turn it off for the night, but many others do not. Turned low the music is restful and comforting at night.
