Last week I was unloading about some technical issues I was having with my site with the shopping cart software. However, I was also seriously praying about these problems, and expecting something to come up that would help.
I continued hunting for answers on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, and even explored a page on the OpenCart site that listed professional people or companies that had lots of experience with OpenCart and will offering their services. I carefully studied their websites and sort of felt that I liked best the one in the Netherlands with three young men that really seemed to know their stuff.
Over the weekend I prayed daily about whether to ask these young professional men for a free quote on their services to get my software installed properly and working smoothly.
So last night I spent most of the evening carefully explaining my self-taught background in webdesign, but that this software had me confused and exhausted from re-trying it several times. Iwas only asking them to get it set up so that I could start USING it to load the models I had researched and photographed, etc.
Well, this morning as soon as I had opened my computer an email came in reply (it seems they are about six time zones ahead of us!). It was from their Director, saying that they found my email delightful and they were sure they could help me in one day. The price they named, when I converted it into Canadian funds, looked affordable to me.
So I sent them my login info for the various levels they will have to access.
In just minutes I had a reply that they like to ask to have a certain amount paid in advance to make sure they get paid. (I can see where this is wise on their behalf). But my credit cards did not work in the form he sent. (It had a list of other banks and financial institutions but I did not recognize any). I wrote back two other international payment options I know of, and asked if he had any other suggestions.
It seems that they think they can take care of my problems in one day, however he mentioned that it was 6:45 pm there. (Here it was about 10:45am.) I'm guessing they are about 8 hours ahead of me.
So... even if they go to bed now, when I get up in the morning they will already have put in a full day's work on it. The question is... how long will it take us to work out this financial stuff first. :)
Years ago, a cousin living in Georgia in the southern USA, sent me a tip to fertilize our garden by saving kitchen scraps. Just save them a bucket and at the end of the day, take them to the garden, grab the nearest spade (you could always leave it where you left off the last time), and dig a quick hole. Dump in the waste, and draw the dirt back over it.
This kind of kitchen waste, peelings, cuttings, something going moldy, - decays and is soon broken down into compost that looks just like soil.
I've done this for years now and find my garden soil is generally quite rich.
Sometimes I've wondered whether it gets spread fairly evenly, so I move the spade around to different areas and bury the compostable kitchen waste between the rows, all throug the summer.
In the winter I throw each bucket full on the snow drifts over the garden. In spring I dig trenches across the garden and drag the waste into them and cover them up again with soil.
When the man comes to rotortill the garden there is no evidence whatsoever that there was kitchen waste buried there! None.
Last summer I told my neighbour Rita about this; she thought she had to buy horse manure and spread that over her gardening beds. But then she tried burying her kitchen wastes too, and this summer she is amazed at how large her flowers and vegetables are growing.
Don't worry. It is not too late to start. Whatever you bury in your garden the worms and other crawly critters will break down, and YOU will notice a difference in your garden next year.
