I'm glad to report a miraculous answer to prayer last week! It came only once I'd turned out my bedside lamp and laid my head on the pillow. I was looking for unnoticed blessings during the day, and as I recalled my struggles to transfer photos to my desktop - the quiet suggestion came to my mind, "What about trying the old laptop? It still has older systems on it." Hmm!
So the next morning the first item on my agenda, after devotions and breakfast, was to try hooking up the red gift camera, and my cell phone, first to the linux system (which I had upgraded and forgotten). It didn't do better thand my upgraded LEAP system on my desktop.
I remembered there was an old Windows 7 on this laptop, so I rebooted and switched to login there. It would not take the red camera connection, but voila! It did easily take the USB connection cord from my cell zenfone! I simply copied them into the pictures folder there, unplugged my phone and plugged in a USB stick. In minutes I had them on the desktop!
But this morning I decided to take a fresh batch of photos as the Christmas cactii have grown and got many more blooms! I've picked just three out of a dozen photos, to show you what has me so excited.
I should say in advance, that the photos of the busy plant in the bedroom have some odd colouring, but that is because of the bright sunshine outside. Yes, even by a north-facing window. (It might be wise to try at night, with just the room light on).
My bedroom cactus, after a week of dripping with theses pink blossoms. (This shade of pink is my most favourite of many colours!)
The same cactus after a half turn so as to see all the new buds. Did you know that the best way to get a Christmas Cactus to have lots and lots of flowers is to let it sit near a cold window in winter? The chill triggers the creation of blooms! Once I see buds up against the window, I turn the plant so I can see the full-sized blooms in the room, and new buds can start next to the window.
The leaf-branches of two cactii up in the high east window each sent a leaf-stem through the screen mesh and grew a flower between the screen and window pain. I've hesitated to pull the plant away as it will ruin those flowers. This shot gave the best view of this.
The backyard garden is taking a winter holiday, but I do get to enjoy some indoor plants. Maybe another time I'll show you all the baby aloe vera plants I've potted. Rows upon rows! (These only bloom very rarely).
