Last November I went looking for a better fridge than the one I'd sort'a inherited from my parents. Since it was in their home when I moved home in 1983, I think it was safe to say it could be over 40 years old. It still worked - in a way. But I had to defrost manually with bowls of hot water in the upper freezer compartment, and that almost weekly. It meant melting down about 3-5 inches of ice that lined the walls and some foods in there. So it over-froze!
So I found a much better, newer-looking used one at Mike's Appliance shop, and they delivered it.
However, this newer fridge has been giving me troubles of late - maybe longer, but in just the last few weeks, I've had a whole big bag of apples go moldy, and stuff I put in the upper compartment, even sausages were soft, instead of firm or hard. Yesterday I threw into the compost pail a small tub (2 cup size) of cooked carrots because when I took off the lid the top was all furry with green mold. So this one doesn't freeze; it just barely cools things.
Ah, Rob, the repairman has just been here and decided that this fridge is no good. He is going to report it to Mike and I guess I'll have to exchange this one for a hopefully better one.
I've found the invoice of the purchase, and there is no warranty on this model, so I expect I may have to pay for the next fridge too. (Ah...Sigh!)
That's all I have for this installment of this continuing saga.
