Whew! A BUSY morning here! Plus I have some photos to share of how my garden is beginning to thrive.
The following photos were taken just this past Sunday, however, I've seen more evidences of growth just yesterday. It is hard to keep up when things are popping up or flowers opening here and there.
What's more, I've been working over my flowerbeds in other corners of the yard, and those will soon be breaking into greens and blooms as well!
The following photos were taken on Sunday, June 26th, except for the last one which I took last night when I finished sowing two rows in the alley.
See my giant rhubarb plant now beside the overflower rain barrel. All that rain we have in the last two weeks sure pleased this rhubarb plant!
This photo doesn't do it justice, but my cucumber, zucchini, and pumpkin/squash plants are popping up on both sides of my garden, and most have leaves as big as my outstretched hand.
The east side of my garden which I seeded Saturday, June 18th ā Iām using plastic lids cut in half as name-plates this year. (Tho' I think the rains will wash off the names in markers soon).
The same east-side of garden, but from the south. Note the morningglories growing like weeds throughout the garden ā they are suppose to climb the fence! I will pull them up and plant them around the shed. (Once I get some nails and twin put up there.)
These daisies are blooming by the foot of my outdoor table.
I spent most of my gardening time last week pulling weeds here ā because it is so sunny most of the day, I wanted this for a melon and pumpkin patch. One thistle plant was taller than me! (Don't worry, I won't be eating all of that! I wanted some for giving away).
Eugene came to help me on Saturday morning, and that speeded things up. Later, after an afternoon shower, I went back and raked that higher area by the fence, and drew some lines and sowed my watermelon seeds in a V, then a line of my last canteloup seeds, and another V of pumpkin/squash.
Then, yesterday, before supper I weeded the raspberry hedge on the other side of the tent-garage, and n the evening I spaded up about 12 inches from the fence, drew two lines and sowed sunflowers next to the fence and yellow painted daisies on this side. (Last year my sunflowers were taller than me! So I hope this will provide some privacy here. The yellow painted daisies are perennials so they will come up automatically each summer once established here.)
This is going to be an INTERESTING SUMMER!
