Recovering My Health

I may have spooked you with my vivid descriptions last week, of my super-duper head cold and cough. But if it caused you to pray for me, perhaps that is not so bad after all. I believe God has heard the prayers of my friends who cared enough to pray.

By Saturday I noticed that my coughs were not as frequent, nor as deep. I had to go to a refresher course at church in the morning. It ended up being an hour and a half session instead of one hour. Then I had some people wanting to talk with me, so I didn't get away until 12 noon. I wore a mask so as not to scare people when I spoke. However, I hardly coughed at all!

I made a couple of brief shopping stops on the way home, and then had a quick lunch of left-overs and had a nap. A long nap. When I woke it was time for supper, so I made a quick meal and then watered my indoor plants (normally a Sat. morning chore) and then cleaned and washed my floors.

At that point I felt winded and tired again, but decided that was enough for my sick condition. I was able to finish filling out some forms for my volunteer positions in church, sitting quietly at the computer.

Sunday morning at church, again, I had less coughing and no phlegm coming up. This convinced me that I was past the pneumonia stage, and my two weeks with this issue were coming to an end!

Yesterday was better still! In the morning I started a big soup batch in the crockpot, and an hour before supper I went out to start raking the front yard. I got about one third done. After supper and dishes, I went out and was nearly able to finish the job before it got too dark to finish the area in front of the side gate. The surge of energy I felt while I worked really encouraged me!

Now, I'm plotting that today I can finish up that area at the gate, then sweep the whole shingle path beside the house, and maybe even clean up the patio area.

I have appointments tomorrow and Thursday, and certain projects to work at online, but hopefully on Friday and Saturday I can get a good start at cleaning up the garden, burying the dried vegetation for compost, and gathering the last of my dead marigolds for seeds.

Oh, and the sunflowers in the back alley!! You should see how many more sunflowers there are now. Not just the big, tall plant but all of them have heads! However, I will leave them as long as possible so the seeds in the heads have time to mature. Maybe when the first snow comes, I'll go out to cut off the flower heads and bring them in to dry thoroughly!

P.S. Due to relentless efforts to hack into the blog, I have deleted it and move my weekly posts to this Department on my novel's site, which is all about my Friends being my Roses or RoseBouquet, and has been from the beginning, in 2001.
