Some places may be ahead of our province, but all COVID restrictions are now scheduled to be lifted on Sunday July 11th. Everyone is busy making plans for all the "normal activities" that have been on hold of over a year! Even me!
You'll recall that I got my second COVID vaccination last Tuesday, and they say to allow two weeks to be fully protected, so that means next Tuesday I can travel and visit people, etc. My plans are not fully finalized, but I am working towards a day trip to Moose Jaw on Sunday the 11th, or - perhaps on Saturday the 17th.
A friend of mine is in a care home there, and she's been cooped up for a long time, having to jump through all kinds of hoops for even a medical appointment. Her birthday falls on the 15th. That does not suit me very well, especially as I'm scheduled to work for a client that evening. So I called her yesterday and alerted her to my plans, and that I will confirm which date it will be in another week or so. She is super excited!
I offered to bring along a single sister of hers, and she said sure I could bring her. But when I called that sister, she begged off for she has three fractured vertebrae in her back, and could not possibly sit in a car for the three-hour drive down there and then later the three hour back to Saskatoon.
Okay... so I'm willing to go by myself, but I've just remembered that my car needs some checking. It has been sitting parked in my tent garage and not gone much of anywhere except for groceries. The other day I noticed oil in the spot where the front of the car is usually parked, so I will call and make an appointment for the car checkup and mention the oil especially.
It will be possible to be in church without masks or being spaced 6 feet apart on the 11th, so I had been looking forward to that. However, I believe it will still be taped and available as a replay on the church website, so I could sacrifice my Sunday.
If I choose to go on the Saturday, I will be sacrificing all my garden work - which is never fully finished all summer. But it is my EXERCISE plan. Oh, besides, I can't resist the free veggies and all the flowers!
Well, I've just had a phone call from the sister who is not able to come along with me, but she was so excited that I'd called her for she didn't know how to reach me. So she has unloaded a lot on me just now. I have promised to spend some time with her this summer.
On this excitable note... I'll stop this chatter and hopefully have a more definite plan next week.
Boy, my social calendar is starting to fill up! :)
