Post Thanksgiving

Guess what; it occurred to me last week that I had forgotten to ask how YOUR THANKSGIVING went? That is, for my Canadian friends. I know that a number of you are over the border and your Thanksgiving Day will come on Nov. 25. (Hmm? exactly a month before Christmas, eh?)

So I'm a little early but I wish all my American friends a wonderful Thanksgiving, and that you will enjoy showing your gratitude to God, and to those around you.

If you ask Google why the Canadian and American Thanksgivings are on different dates, you find an answer that Canada, being further north has a shorter harvest season and winter is upon us sooner.

So true! I've been extra busy with cleaning up my garden and getting things put away before the serious snows come. Once we have 2 or 3 feet deep snow all over the garden, etc., we live mostly indoors.

I'm still waiting to get the right plugs for my long cords for plugging in the car. It's important as our vehicles do not always start up in winter if they are not plugged in. (I bought the wrong ones a couple of weeks ago, so Gary told me.)

I think I have about two more sessions left of burying the dead garden plants for compost, and raking the front yard once more. Then I will put my garden tools away, and can focus on my indoor winter projects.

Like what? Scanning photos from my uncle's albums, sewing, cutting open 3 pumpkins and deciding how I'll cook/freeze the pulp. Oh, and the number of webinars I'm attending these days has multipled.

The biggest project is to go through my house shelf by shelf and corner by corner to decide what to get rid of, and to label the bins and boxes of things I want to keep, so when I'm looking for some thing - it should finally be easier to find. I believe this project is going to eat up more hours than what I gave to the garden in the summer! Yes, this is called serious down-sizing!

Have you ever down-sized your possessions? Any tips or warnings for me?

P.S. Due to relentless efforts to hack into the blog, I have deleted it and move my weekly posts to this Department on my novel's site, which is all about my Friends being my Roses or RoseBouquet, and has been from the beginning, in 2001.
