Discombobulated This Morning!

My brother Ernie and his wife Dorothee are on their way back to Winnipeg from Trevor's funeral in BC. I had a call last night, to say that they would drop in to see me about 12:30 -1 pm. So I was preparing a big crockpot full of borscht last night. I also made carrot juice and I have some sweet and juicy "Sugar Baby" watermelons from my garden for dessert.

That's right; they did not stop last Tuesday when they were heading westward.

But then I've had two more calls from them while they are driving from Edmonton, and they want me to dress up to go out to a fine restaurant for supper, and then go spend the night with them in their hotel and enjoy the hot tub.

You have no idea what a flurry this puts me into! (I haven't had a bathing suit on since the early 1980s in Ontario - I don't think I have a thing to wear in that way!) I appreciate they want to fuss over me, and this is about as close as I'll get this year to a "vacation." (Or does my trip to Moose Jaw in July count as a one day outing?)

Actually, I did have something of a one day event on Saturday that was unusual; I took three friends back to my home town, Hague, for a Mennonite Cultural day, where they demonstrated the butchering of a pig - and sold smoked sausages, ribs, and lard & cracklings from it afterward. They also had a clay oven going and were baking bread in that. You could buy a slice for $5.

Another friend dropped by this morning to buy an aloe vera plant for someone she knows, and right now I'm wondering how fast I can get this RoseBouquet published so I can get more things ready for Company for Lunch!

Oh, and a woman phoned to say she had seen my letter about my garden and those ebooks. She wanted to order/buy a printed copy for her husband's step mother. I know that woman. Dear Anne Baerg who is in her 90s and in a care home now, but still such a godly prayer warrior! So I've agreed to print one out and bind it in time for her birthday. That means I won't get the garden cleaned up this Saturday. (Sigh!)

I'm not complaining but this extra flood of unexpected things inserted into my already busy life - has me - well, a little discombobulated this morning! ;)

P.S. Due to relentless efforts to hack into the blog, I have deleted it and move my weekly posts to this Department on my novel's site, which is all about my Friends being my Roses or RoseBouquet, and has been from the beginning, in 2001.
