Air Travel a Gumbo Soup?

I've mentioned a couple of times that I'm looking forward to going to Winnipeg weekend after this next one. But I got a call from my sister in Kelowna yesterday to say that she's been notified that her flight is cancelled. Due to over-booking. Hmm.. ? Why couldn't they be better organized?

I'm half expecting that my flights might suddenly be cancelled. So far - no email to that effect.

But my sister Elsie says, that if that happens, she's prepared to drive and would stop by to pick me up. So I still have a chance of going.

My next concern is, what about our sister Erma, who is planning to fly in from New Hamburg, ON? If her flight is cancelled. She may be stranded and not get to come at all. Which will really mess up her life, as she has already ordered a small puppy from someone in the Winnipeg area, and ... well, I suppose she could take whatever flights she gets, just to go get it. But that may not happen for the reunion weekend.

So when you hear on the news about all the confusion and long delays and cancellations at various airports across North America, (a virtual Gumbo soup!) do you find yourself worrying too, or do you quietly but gleefully say to yourself, "Good thing I'm going anywhere this summer!"
