(What WAS The RoseBouquet (blog) has now moved HERE - Part of the Static Site)

Our First Spring of 2023!

Yes! Last Thursday we had a very slushy spring here. The first spring of 2023! The temperature came up above 0 Celsius. I had an appointment to meet with some people about turnning my contract as the MHSS webmaster over to a new volunteer.

I was astonished to have two big trucks, one on my left and one on my right side - passing me at the same time, and spraying my car with waves of slushy, muddy water! Yikes! My wipers could hardly clear the windshield fast enough. In fact, it happened a number of times!

I was actually looking forward to turning that job over to someone else, because I have plenty to do. (Mind you that income has helped me to make ends meet since I moved to Saskatoon in 2007). However, the MHSS Board want to change that position to a volunteer role, and they had found a university student who was willing to take it on.

However, he surprised us by saying that he is working on his thesis and needs to hand in a preliminary assignment by mid-March, so he wanted to delay taking on this role until them. I don't know if my disappointment showed, but I had begun to look forward to giving my Thursday nights to other projects. Oh-well, just 6 more weeks.

Back to the Spring theme. Around here we are used to having surprise starts to spring and then winter comes back. By Friday last week the colder temperatures set in, and by Sunday it was bitterly cold outside.

We are to have light snow today and tomorrow with temperatures ranging from -16 to -21, but then, starting Friday we will have a milder spell with just -5 and -6 temperatures. No sign when the next surprise spring jumps up!

Hiding Recipient Email Adddresses

There are times you want to send an email to a number of friends and relatives at the same time. But some spam filters will block your emails if you send to lots and lots of people at once.

You can get around this by learning to use Bcc - which means Blind Carbon Copy.

Beside the To: label is usually a small arrow, click on that and you will see some other options, such as Cc (Carbon Copy) - or Bcc (Blind carbon copy), etc. If you are sending something to a group, like members of your Board, then you would choose Cc and list the emails there, separated by commas (,) If you want to protect the identity of the others getting this email, choose Bcc and again, list the email addresses, separated with commas. (,)

This can be done with your Gmail address too.

All that is left to do is write the body of your email, and click on "Send."

If you are in the habit of doing this a lot, I recommend that you research how to send mass emails without running into filter problems. Some people set their filters to block any emails that are a mass mailing that they did NOT subscribe to.

Watch out also for those (even friends and relatives) who will find those other recipient email addresses and add them to their address book, and soon they are spamming all YOUR contacts. This is where a proper mailing list service is a much better idea.

P.S. Due to relentless efforts to hack into the blog, I have deleted it and move my weekly posts to this Department on my novel's site, which is all about my Friends being my Roses or RoseBouquet, and has been from the beginning, in 2001.
