Feedback on Last Issue

Well, I didn't get a single response to last week's issue, so I'll have to check the STATS at MailerLite to see if everyone did in fact receive and open that email.

I noticed on the copy I recieved, that the plain text was not shown in the email. Instead there was a link to click and go read it online. But the font size was unusually small there. Hmm...!

Shall I try an HTML edition this time? But then if your email is set to not open those, you will still have to go online to read a plain text that is automatically generated. I admit I feel rather torn between... the options.

I should add that as always before, I also put out an edition that is on a webpage on my site, and that is provided at the top, right under the short index of what's in this issue. You could bookmark that page and just go check it every Tuesday. But then, when you get busy, you'll start to forget to do that. [The RoseBouquet Online]

If you know how to use feed-reader software, I also prepare another version that uses .xml format. If you enter this URL in your feed-reader, https://ruthes-secretroses.com/RoseBouquet.xml it will show up there just as if it were an email. However, it only has the first few lines of each part and you have to click the link provided there to go read the whole piece or article on my website. That means you have to take an extra step, but at least you get a reminder in your feed-reader software, and you can pick or choose which parts you want to read and which you will skip.

Should you have any concerns or suggestions, I'd be glad to hear from you so I can make the right decisions at this crucial point of change.

<*> TIPS & SOLUTIONS: <*>

What to Do if your Inbox Gets too Full

If you have a domain email (eg. you@yourwebsite.com) you are likely to be limited to just certain MG of storage space, or in some cases, you might get a GB set aside for your Inbox. If you have a Gmail address, the max is 15 GB, and that is shared with your Google Drive &am; Google Photos. (If you pay for DriveOne you can pay for extra space). So there you are not so likely to run out of space.

What happens if you do?

Incoming emails are bounced away; they don't reach you! Even if you are waiting for them!

What can you do? Learn to empty your Inbox at regular intervals.

I have emails for each domain/website I look after - even for clients, so this can get to be a huge deal if I fall behind. The last 3 weeks or so I've been extra busy and so just let the emails stay in the Inbox. Yesterday I started "saving" emails that I had intended to save, especially when I saw that there were some from last year. Whoa!

I also saw a notice that one subscriber's email had bounced because their Inbox was full.

That's when I realized that not everyone knows how to keep their Inbox tidy.

If an email is part of an ongoing conversation, I do leave it in the inbox so that I can check back if I need to check facts in a previous email. However, one-time emails, or ones where the conversation has died out, all get saved. But in plain text only. (emails with the extention .mbox will be gobbedly-gook if you ever hunt through the saved ones; no use!)

Here are my steps;
1. Ahead of time I have created a folder for this year's emails, with sub-folders for various categories, such as Friends/ Relatives/ Church/ Business/ etc. Then I add sub-folders as needed on the fly.

2. Highlight the email to be saved (or see that it is open).

3. With left hand I click on the Control key with my pinkie, then on the S with another finger.

4. A "Save Message" window pops up. There I steer it to the folder where I will save the email.

5. I deliberately delete the extension .mbox after the email's title/subject and replace it with the date of the email if not in the subject, with a simple 2-14 (for example). Then in the ower blank I also change that to this: *.txt That ensures that the email will be saved in plain text format. This guarantees that it will be readable if you look for it some day in the future.

6. Lastly, hit the "Submit" button. Then, back at your Inbox, hit delete button and go on to the next one.

If you have a lot of emails, try to clean up one Inbox every day or other day, thus keep your Inboxes caught up on a fairly regular basis.
