People Need the LORD!
Dad and I have needed Him too this past year, but I am happy to report that He has been there for
us at every turn. Besides for our salvation and daily sanctification, let me count some ways the
LORD has helped us;
1. He has granted us health and strength. Dad is still taking his kidney stone and diabetic
medications, and doesn't go as often or far for walks, but he's still doing quite well for going on
90.
2. My sister Elsie sent us a book, Your Body's Many Cries for Water in September, and we've
both been trying to increase our water drinking since then. I've also got into a habit of going for
an early morning walk, and I notice that I'm stronger for it, and my stamina lasts better when I'm
doing physical work around the house. (We've also taken to brewing Kombucha Tea, but I'm not sure
yet what benefits we gain).
3. On our very limited income we have learned to be quite frugal and do without many things. The
loan payments on the car and roof (last summer) meant it was still tight while saving up to pay
property taxes. However, despite all this, the Lord found ways to cover our costs to go on not
just one but three weekend trips.
We had one in early July to Winnipeg, where Dad and Ernie built a glider-swing for the backyard, and
in August we went to Calgary for my cousin Kevin Kroeker's wedding. (How accommodations worked out
was a minor miracle).
We really didn't think we could afford gas to attend a 40th anniversary in Lethbridge.
But the Lord work that out after all, and we even met some relatives in Medicine Hat that I'd never
seen before! It turned out to be such a treat to discover Christian relatives.
We had a good time at Lethbridge too, where we met a number of relatives at Wayne & Hilda's
anniversary, and after that, a musical jamming session with Edwin, Rose and Wayne. That was such a
treat!
4. Dad got a kit for making Cross necklaces in spring, and has created over 156 already. At this
point we've been taking them to various stores, and have consignment arrangements with a couple
already.
They seem to sell as soon people see them.
|
Dad's ready to have the last of his teeth pulled and and get dentures. If he can sell all these
necklaces by the holidays, he'll be able to have that major expense covered in January. (Would you
like to order a cross necklace? $7/each).

5. My main prayer over the year has been for new glasses. I was able to get an eye exam in June, and
had shopped around for the best price. Just recently God has given gifts through several Christian
friends - so I ordered the glasses, and found them $50 off right now!
They came with clip on sunglasses (2), and got here Dec.6.
Also, the Lord has provided a monitor which increases the font size, when someone cast it off! I'm
rejoicing in these things as they help me cope better with the extra ministries I've taken on.
Besides three web sites of my own, I look after one for WesternTractMission.org, and one for
Generosity-Alive.org and have built some smaller ones for missionary friends.
Sneaked in among all this I've been switching my whole operating system on my computer
several times. Dad has a proverb in Low German; "Handling Teaches." Well, I've
learned heaps by handling this stuff. I'm not arrived, but my Linux Learning Curve has been steep
this year. :)
Next year! That should be the profitable one!
I hesitate to tell you about all the 'irons in the fire' I've got going; it could overwhelm you.
You could ask! <GRIN>
May your New Year be full of Blessings Galore and Wonderful Surprises, and you be ready when Jesus
comes!
Dad and I wish you a Blessed and Merry Christmas and a Whole and Healthy New
Year!
Let me also give you my NEW favourite verse of 2005: "The LORD your God is with you, He is
mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice
over you with singing.M" (Zephaniah 3:17 NIV)
P.S. Hey, I've got my new glasses. Admiring them in the bathroom mirrors. I think I like them!
I praise God for blessings left and right! May He provide for you too!
