Katie Lapp became Katherine Mayfield in the first two books of this series, and now she has the life she's always dreamed of, but something is drawing her back to her Amish roots.

In the first volume, Katie is about to marry their bishop in the Plain Amish community of Hickory Hollow, when she discovers a satin baby dress and the news that she was given to her parents as a newborn.

In the second book, Katie takes on the name on the label in the baby dress, Katherine Mayfield, and goes to search for her real mother. That was not as easy as it first seemed. Her impostor was already in place, and her mother was dying.

In this third book, she pines for her childhood friend, Mary Stolfuz, who is at the same time agonizing over whether she is right to marry the bishop that Katherine rejected.

Daniel Fisher, Katherine's young teen love, thought to be dead, is very much alive and trying to find her. When he does, Katherine sends him away in shock.

You know, of course, as well as I do, that in the end it all works out very well, and they are reconciled, and both at peace about leaving the Plain life. It is watching this all come together that makes reading this book such a pleasure. This book is a satisfying conclusion to the series.


I can heartily recommend all three books to you as a good, refreshing reading experience. And a glimpse into Amish life besides.
