A Book I can Highly Recommend

Zornes shows herself a gifted storyteller, weaving scenes or events from Moses and the Exodus of
the Israelites from Egypt, in with problems in her own personal life, and in each chapter, also the
account of another person or couple who have come from extremes in despair or suffering to higher
levels on that rocky road, the Christian life, which is to end in Heaven. At times the sudden
switches from one story back to another can be startling at least (and may be frustrating to some),
but perhaps that is to add to the image of unexpected jolts on a rough and unfamiliar way.
The thirteen chapters have mileposts at the end, which are little assignments and discussion
questions, lending this book to a three month series of studies with a group or class. With subtle
humor each chapter deals with a topic such as Despair and Hope, Cowardice and Duty, Fear and
Fortitude, etc.
I recommend this book for personal reading as well as group study, and not just women, but men and
young people too.
