Looking south-west over the cucumbers, melons and raspberries. Oh, and the zucchini at the front edge.


A closer look at our raspberry canes on the west side. (Sorry, forgot to take a good shot of the ones on the east side).


I used a camera to check for raspberries I couldn't reach between our fence and the neighbours. I don't think they could reach them either!


Looking south-east over Dad's potato field. Any wonder that I often refer to our garden as the "Back 40" (referring to farmer-talk about the back 40 acres)?


Dad only got a handful of corn cobs last years, so this year I persuaded him to sow them in short rows close together to resemble a corn field. Seems to encourage them!


Poppies, both doubles, and now singles pop up of their own accord. I think they look so bold and beautiful!


These painted daisies at the back fence have a story. I dropped in at a office supply business in Saskatoon and found some like this near the door, but many of them had gone to seed. I went back inside and asked if I could help myself to some dead head flowers. Sure. So I dropped them in an empty muffin cup. These painted yellow daisies have thrived here at the back fence many years ever since. No need to re-sow them.


Our apple tree bears sour apples, but they look good! Lightening struck the original tree and Dad cut it down. From the root this new tree grew up, bearing only very sour apples.


Sour, but good-looking apples - work in pies.

Just four zucchini plants! Bearing as much as last year's row!


Surprise! White lavateria flowers hiding under the zucchini leaves.


We have about 6 short rows of tomatoes. which are beginning to lean over like knocked down hedges, weighted with with fruit. These look like they will be ripe soon! Yum! Yum!


Lettuce, beets, (radishes are finished), with dill and summer savory coming up wild.


And that brings us back to the back door. I hope there have not been too many photos and too large for your browser to show them to you. There's still lots of harvesting and cleanup of the garden to do before winter. If you come to visit us, we'll load you down with produce!

Maybe I'll add some more pages yet, now that I have this photo garden journal started.

Incidentally, while gathering these photos I found that I've been saving in another folder, most of the flower photos from the east side of the house, and ones I've seen in the neighbours as I do my early morning walks around town. When I have time, I can put up a floral tour too.
